According to the report from the Daily Post, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has issued a stern warning to local government and local government education authority officials who allegedly misappropriated N30,000 Sallah gifts meant for workers in the state. The governor urged the officials to return the diverted funds immediately or face severe consequences.

The governor made this statement during an address to a large gathering of well-wishers and supporters at the Government House in Sokoto. The warning was conveyed through a statement released by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, and shared with the press.

Expressing his disappointment, Governor Aliyu expressed his dismay over the unethical behavior of some financial officers, particularly at the local government level, who denied their staff the N30,000 approved as Sallah gifts by the state government.

He stated, "I wonder how somebody would deny our workers the stipends we gave them to make them financially stable during the Sallah festive season." The governor stressed that those who diverted the funds must return them immediately, or face punitive measures. He emphasized that the culprits will be made to face the consequences of their actions as a deterrent to others.

Governor Aliyu directed all heads of agencies involved in these corrupt practices to expedite the compilation of all affected workers and ensure their refunds. He reassured the people of Sokoto State of his administration's commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and prudent management of public funds for the benefit of all.

"This administration is fully committed to zero tolerance for corruption and all corrupt practices," the governor stated. He warned that anyone who believes they can embezzle public funds without consequences must be mistaken. Governor Aliyu emphasized that his administration represents the government of the people, by the people, and for the people. He stressed the importance of diligently carrying out their responsibilities, regardless of whose interests may be affected.

Furthermore, the governor called on the people of Sokoto State to continue supporting his administration in its unwavering determination to fulfill its campaign promises.
