According to Daily Post, The Niger State Police Command arrested three individuals linked to the assault on Danladi Abdullahi Saku, Chairman of Katcha Local Government. Saku was severely beaten on June 16, 2024, allegedly over his failure to repay a political campaign loan exceeding N1 million obtained within the local government.

According to a statement from SP Wasiu Abiodun, Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Minna, the attack occurred on the Saku-Gadza road shortly after Sallah prayers in Saku village, Katcha LGA. Initial investigations at Katcha Division led to the identification and subsequent apprehension of three suspects, who were later transferred to Bida Area Command.

The arrested individuals are Alhaji Abdullahi Kasimu, 68, from Gadza village, Katcha; Alhaji Baba Mohammed, 30, also from Gadza village; and Ahmadu Mohammed, 25.

During interrogation, Alhaji Kasimu reportedly claimed he lent Saku over a million naira in August 2023, with unsuccessful attempts to reclaim the debt. On June 16, following a promise from Saku to visit him after prayers, an altercation ensued involving Kasimu's son Ahmadu Mohammed, his son-in-law Alhaji Baba Mohammed, and others, resulting in severe injuries to Saku. The debt was allegedly settled at the scene before Saku was rushed to the hospital.

The suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna. The PRO stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the incident, with plans for immediate prosecution upon completion of investigations.
