Former Ondo Deputy Governor, Ajayi Agboola, Secures PDP Gubernatorial Ticket for November Election

According to reports from LEADERSHIP, former Ondo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Ajayi Agboola, emerged victorious as the governorship candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming November 16, 2024, gubernatorial election in the state.

Ajayi, who previously served as deputy governor to late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu during his first tenure from 2016 to 2020 before their fallout, garnered 264 votes to clinch the PDP ticket.

His closest rival, former House of Representatives member Hon. Kolade Akinjo, secured 157 votes, while former commissioner for the Environment, Chief Ebiseni Olusola, trailed behind with 99 votes.

Engr. Adeolu Akinwumi and Otunba Bamidele Akingboye received 64 and 24 votes respectively.

Former commissioner for Information in the state, John Ola Mafo, and Bosun Arebuwa obtained 9 and 2 votes respectively.

The primary election witnessed the participation of 621 delegates representing all 18 local government areas of Ondo State, reflecting a robust and inclusive electoral process within the PDP.
