According to DAILY POST reports, Edo North Senator, Adams Oshiomhole, has accused Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State of abusing his immunity to shield his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, from arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The accusation comes amidst mounting pressure on Bello over allegations of money laundering and corruption amounting to N80.2 billion.

The EFCC's attempt to apprehend Bello at his residence in Abuja was thwarted by Governor Ododo, who intervened, invoking his immunity to prevent the anti-graft agency from taking action against his former boss.

Subsequently, Bello's whereabouts became unknown, prompting the EFCC to place him on a watchlist.

The drama unfolded against the backdrop of a ruling by the Kogi High Court, which sided with Bello in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed against the EFCC's attempt to arrest him.

However, Oshiomhole condemned Ododo's intervention as an abuse of power and a violation of the law.

Speaking at the 'Revisiting the national question: Nigeria's elusive search for national integration' international conference organized by the Kukah Centre, Oshiomhole criticized the reluctance to hold powerful individuals accountable for their actions.

He underscored the need for courage and integrity in addressing corruption and upholding the rule of law.

Oshiomhole emphasized the importance of equal justice under the law, regardless of one's status or influence.

He highlighted the hypocrisy of singling out petty offenders while shielding prominent figures who flout the law, arguing that such double standards undermine the fabric of society.
