President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been under fire from human rights activist Mahdi Shehu for remarks he made recently in which Tinubu showed delight in Nigerian youths.

In reaction to Tinubu's statement, Shehu made some observations that revealed his grave concerns over the difficulties that Nigerian youth are facing.

In a message published on his verified Twitter account, he highlighted the harsh reality that a large number of Nigerian youth must face. He said that because of high unemployment rates and unstable income, almost 95 million young people struggle with severe hunger.

He emphasized the unresolved problem of N-power stipend payments and the strict requirements of student loan programs, which he claimed are unaffordable for the majority of applicants.

He made the argument that Tinubu's complimentary comments on young people in Nigeria would apply more to young people in other nations, like France, where youngsters are thought to have more promising futures and social support.

He wrote, "Proud? Really? Well, 95 million of those youth are facing extreme hunger because they are unemployed with no means of income."

"You refused to pay them their N-power stipend. Some of those youth have been deceived with a student loan scheme whose stringent conditions cannot be met by 90% of the applicants."
