Mikel Arteta's Gunners have finalised the signing of Jorginho from Graham Potter's Chelsea.

The creative playmaker, who has won 46 caps for the Italian national team at the international level has joined the North Londoners for a fee reported to be in the region of £12 million.

The 31-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge from Serie A heavyweights, Napoli in 2018 and guided the West Londoners to UEFA Champions League triumph in 2021.

At the conclusion of the current campaign, the contract of the Euro 2020 winner was set to expire.

Named the Uefa Men's Player of the Year following two continental victories at the club and international levels, Jorginho gives Mikel Arteta's team a big boost as they pursue the English Premier League title.

Arsenal wanted to recruit Moises Caicedo because Arteta wanted to add depth to the midfield. However, Brighton repeatedly rejected their offers for the Ecuadorian midfielder, so the club immediately found a replacement.

The departure of Jorginho may make it possible for Enzo Fernandez to complete a move from Portuguese giants, Benfica to Stamford Bridge.

The Ex-Chelsea midfielder will don the no 20 shirt at the Emirates
