Police in Runyenjes, Embu county have retrieved the bodies of a couple alleged to be murder-suicide victims from their rented house.
The woman’s body was found on a bed in a pool of blood, while the man’s was sprawled on the floor in their house at Karurumo village in Kyeni South ward.
A neighbour said she heard an unusual commotion and a loud scream from the couple’s house the previous night. On Thursday morning, no one came out of the house, prompting the neighbours to check on them. They found the door locked from inside and that is when they alerted the police. The police had to break the door and retrieve the lifeless bodies of the duo.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the man, a teacher at local school, stabbed the woman multiple times before ending his own life.
A neighbour said he don't know what triggered the teacher to commit the heinous act as he was looking okay in the evening when he arrived home from work.
Area Chief said the police have already launched investigations into the incident, noting that there were no reports of any squabbles between the couple.
The administrator urged residents to resolve their family issues peacefully instead of taking the law into their own hands.
The bodies of the two have since been transferred to the nearby morgue awaiting an autopsy
