We're told that his majesty, the sultan of Nigeria in the palace at Aso needs aircraft–Dele Farotimi

In a recent broadcast by Sahara TV, Human Rights Activist Dele Farotimi expressed his concerns over an alleged plan to procure a private jet for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Farotimi suggested that the purchase of the jet might have occurred before the news reached the National Assembly, implying a level of premeditated secrecy and lack of transparency.

He criticized the culture of labeling critics of such extravagance as insane, arguing that this tactic is used to discredit and silence dissenting voices. Despite being branded as insane by friends and others, Farotimi remains steadfast in his commitment to speaking out against what he perceives as systemic corruption and mismanagement.

While highlighting the absurdity of the current state of affairs, Farotimi questioned the sanity of a system that normalizes such extravagant expenditures amidst widespread economic hardship. He pointed out the contradiction in prioritizing the purchase of a private jet for the president while the majority of Nigerians struggle with basic needs. This, according to Farotimi, exemplifies the impunity with which the country's leaders operate. In addressing the normalization of what he views as insanity, Farotimi expressed indifference towards being called insane himself. He boldly asserted that if speaking the truth about the current system is considered insanity, then he embraces that label with pride.

According to him: "What is sane about what you have normalized? Exactly what is sane about what you have normalized? We have built a country where the law does not rule, and now we are being told that in the midst of all our famine, His Imperial Majesty, the Sultan of Nigeria in the palace at Aso is so urgently in need of aircraft. They might even have bought this aircraft long, long before they brought it to the National Assembly. That is the level of impunity with which we live in Nigeria now, and it is those of us who speak to this insanity who are deemed insane."
