According to Vanguard, The Igbo-Biafra Nationalists (IBN) has urged the National Assembly to create additional states in the Southeast region from Igbo communities that were previously transferred to the North, South, and Central regions during the "indiscriminate" state creation exercise.

Mazi Uche Mefor, convener of IBN, stated that the group prefers the creation of homogeneous, mono-linguistic states that align with their vision of a unified Igbo Nation. He cautioned against the balkanization of existing states in the Southeast region and advocated for synergy among sponsors of state creation bills to ensure the creation of additional states that reflect the interests of Igbo communities.

IBN specifically mentioned the need for alignment with proposals for Anioma and Orashi states, emphasizing the importance of cooperation to establish additional states that uphold the interests of the Igbo Nation. This call comes as the National Assembly considers moves to create additional states in the South East region.
