Wike Dissolved LG Councils Because, In His Thinking, They are Loyal to Amaechi—Opunabo Inko-Tariah

In an interview with Arise TV, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, former Special Adviser to Nyesom Wike, shed light on the motivations behind Wike's decision to dissolve local government councils and appoint caretaker committee when he was the governor of Rivers State. According to Inko-Tariah, Wike suspected that the elected council members were loyal to his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, leading to their removal.

Inko-Tariah argued that there's nothing wrong with appointing a caretaker committee. He revealed that the governor has every right to dissolve the local government chairmen since their tenure has expired.

According to him, "What is the hullabaloo about the caretaker committee? When we first got into office—I'm talking of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike—one of the first things he did was to dissolve the local government councils and appoint a caretaker committee. Those members were duely elected, but because, in his thinking, they're loyal to his predecessor, Rotimi Amaechi, he dissolved them, and the matter is still in court."
