Chelsea's busy summer transfer window continues, as the Blues look to strengthen the squad at the disposal of manager Enzo Maresca ahead of next season. In the latest development, Chelsea have reached full agreement with Barcelona for the signing of highly rated young talent Marc Guiu.
The Blues informed the Catalan giants that they fully intend to trigger Guiu's €6million release clause, and the player himself has reached full agreement in personal terms with the London giants. Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano tweeted that the move is now a "here we go", posting the following on his Twitter handle:
"Marc Guiu to Chelsea, here we go! The club has just informed Barça on plan to trigger €6m release clause for 2006 born striker.
Verbal agreement in place with Guiu’s agents, now proceeding with formal steps later this week.
Guiu expected to sign long term deal at Chelsea."
Guiu is one of the most highly rated recent graduates from La Masia, and he scored his maiden goal just seconds into his La Liga debut last season. Barcelona could not match the salary offer made by Chelsea to the player, whom is said to believe that he would have more opportunities at Stamford Bridge.
