Bishop Samuel Ngacha Njiriri, once a staunch supporter of President William Ruto, has now become a vocal critic, expressing deep disappointment in the leader he once fervently backed.

Leading the evangelical charge for Ruto's presidency, Njiriri is now disillusioned, accusing the President of betraying the promises that swayed Kenyans.

In a poignant plea, the cleric, who leads the Stewards Revival Pentecostal Church, has implored Ruto to face reality and admit to the unrealistic nature of his pledges.

He has called for honesty and transparency, urging Ruto to acknowledge the challenges and limitations in fulfilling the ambitious promises made during the election campaigns.

“It is now the moment to face the truth. Just come out and tell Kenyans the promises we made are unrealistic now let us prioritize... But if we try to push to achieve what you promised and we all know that we have nothing to deliver the promises, then we are going to break everybody’s back, you will even break your back,” he told The People Daily.

The Bishop has highlighted the discord between Ruto's assurances and his current actions, underscoring the disappointment felt by church leaders who championed his cause.

He has expressed the collective dismay of the church leaders who feel that their endorsement of Ruto has led to a loss of credibility and trust among their congregations.

“As church leaders, we have been made to look bad before our flock whom we convinced to vote for him because everything he seems to be doing is completely contrary to what he promised,” he said.

Njiriri's concern extends beyond mere reproach as he has urged the Head of State to address the adverse impact of the taxation regime on ordinary Kenyans.

The bishop has emphasized the need for a reconsideration of policies, cautioning that pushing unattainable promises could lead to collective failure and hardship.

His impassioned plea serves as a call for accountability and responsible governance, resonating with many who share his concerns about the current state of affairs in Kenya.
