Alleged N80bn Fraud: Obey Court Order Now—Kogi Assembly Tells EFCC

Following the allegations levelled against former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello over alleged N80.2billion fraud, the State House of Assembly has called on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission to obey the rule of law and work within the ambit of law creating the Commission.

This forms part of the resolutions during the House plenary on Tuesday.

The lawmakers also resolved that the Tag ‘WANTED’ laced around the name and person of former Governor Bello be immediately removed.

Other resolutions of the hallowed chamber read in part, “The EFCC, IGP, IMMIGRATION, NSA and other agencies conscripted into this melodrama be so informed and involved to act accordingly. The Commission should not allow itself to become a tool of political vendetta, blackmail, or intimidation against any individual through personal grudges, persecution, and campaign of calumny to tarnish.

Nigeria’s Rate Of School Dropouts Alarming – Remi Tinubu

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed concerns over the alarming rate of dropouts among Nigerians, specifically girls.

She further noted that the result motivated her to develop ideas that could cater for the educational needs of that category of people.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Alternative High School for Girls’ turning-of-the-sod ceremony in Osogbo, Osun State, Tinubu said that her initiative was inspired by her wish to give young girls and women who dropped out of school due to unplanned pregnancies, cultural barriers, or financial difficulties another opportunity to finish high school.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, disclosed on Tuesday that the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, once saved him from media blackmail while he was in the Senate.

The governor, during a reception organized for the First Lady, alongside other State Governors’ wives at Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, ahead of the Sod Turning of The Alternative High School for Girls, said the first lady, then a Senator in the 8th Senate, was his saving grace after he was caught sleeping by the media during plenary.

According to Adeleke, “I want to welcome you to Osun State. You are a detribalise First Lady. I remember that she was my senior colleague at the 8th assembly; there was a time when the media caught me sleeping in the Senate, so they wanted to blackmail me. I told them how tedious our job is in making bills and having several sleepless nights over Nigeria.

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, has finally opened up on his purported suspension by his ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

Ganduje said his suspension resembled a flick from the popular entertainment channel, Africa Magic.

He spoke when he received official reports of Saturday’s governorship primary election in Ondo State from the Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo-led committee on Tuesday.
