The former Governor of Edo state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Adams Oshiomhole has stated that members of the Peoples Democratic Party in his Local Government have decamped to the All Progressives Congress.

Channels Television reported that Adams Oshiomhole, a federal lawmaker representing Edo North in the red chamber of the national assembly stated this when he visited President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Friday to brief him ahead of the forthcoming Edo governorship election.

The three leading candidates ahead of the Edo state gubernatorial election are Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress and Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Adams Oshiomhole said; "I’m surprised that rather than speculating about who will face what, you are not a witness to the fact that the entire PDP in Egor, a month ago, all the wards, decamped to APC."

He noted; "Just last week in my local government, the remaining remnants of PDP decamped to the APC"

He stated further; "So what power do I have? How can we, a non-state group, have power to influence a seasoned politician to move against themselves? So this is purely PDP intra-party, and I think the lesson is very clear, mainly that parties must be encouraged to obey the laws that regulate the conduct of primaries"

The recent statement by Adams Oshiomhole which was shared by Channels Television has generated a lot of reactions.
