A Legal Practitioner, Barrister Henry Ekine, has stated that the only reason why the three members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who did not defect to the APC from the PDP has not been seating in the house of assembly is because, they adjourned seating so that INEC can conduct election into the vacant seats left behind by defected members.
Barrister Henry Ekine made this statement during an interview with some journalists on TVC News Television. During the interview, Barrister Henry Ekine said, "they adjourned to such a time that they thought that INEC would have responded to the the notification that 27 seats had become vacant and there was need to conduct election within 90 days."
"Unfortunately, INEC has remained mute up till now. I have not heard of any response from INEC. What the Constitution requires that the speaker should do at the time that those vacant position existed was done, but the election was not conducted."
