Terrorists kill another Nigerian university lecturer

According to Premium times, In a tragic incident, terrorists have killed Tiri David, a lecturer at the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA) in Katsina State, North-west Nigeria. The attack occurred early Tuesday morning in Yarima Quarters, a housing estate in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area. The bandits also kidnapped his two children during the assault.

David was the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension, and Rural Development at FUDMA. The terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, invaded the community around 1:30 a.m., shooting into the air as they targeted David's residence. The police spokesperson in Katsina, Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident but was unable to provide further details immediately.

This incident marks the second time in less than 10 days that terrorists have killed a university lecturer in the region. Previously, Yusuf Saidu, a professor and deputy vice-chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, was murdered along with his driver on a highway linking Zamfara and Kaduna states.

The North-west region of Nigeria, including states like Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto, and Kebbi, has been plagued by frequent terrorist attacks. These terrorists, often referred to as bandits, have turned parts of these states into conflict zones, making life challenging for residents, particularly agrarian farmers. The terrorists regularly launch attacks on roads, farms, and homes, causing widespread insecurity and disruption.
