Iludun Residents Alarmed as Railway Corridor Crime Claims Lives, Urge Government Intervention

According to Vanguard, residents of Iludun community in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) raised alarm yesterday, reporting that activities along the railway corridor and near Iludun market have resulted in at least 10 fatalities. They called on the Lagos State government to address the escalating security challenges in the area.

During Vanguard's visit to the community, residents highlighted a surge in criminal activities including theft, assault, rape, and fatal attacks. They expressed significant concerns for their safety, particularly during evening and early morning passages along the railway corridor.

Engr. Amos Adu, Chairman of the Iludun Board of Trustees (BoT), recounted a personal incident where his phone was snatched at gunpoint, emphasizing the area's high risk, especially at night. Another resident and BoT member, Mr. Oluremi Faotanmi, shared a harrowing experience involving his daughter who narrowly escaped assault by hoodlums along the railway corridor.

Adu said: “This area is very dangerous, especially at night.” Another resident and member of Iludun BoT, Mr Oluremi Faotanmi, said: “My daughter was once attacked along the railway corridor by the hoodlums and miscreants. Luckily, she escaped being raped.”
