A federal lawmaker from Zamfara State, Hon. Abdul Malik Zubairu Bungudu, has paid for the weddings of 105 couples from his district. Supporting families impacted by banditry in the state, the event was held on Saturday in Bungudu Town. The member from the Bungudu/Maru federal constituency reportedly gave the brides, who are primarily the children of banditry victims, necessities for their new homes, as reported on Saturday by the Nigerian Tribune. Mattresses, closets, beds, bed linens, pillows, and other home goods were among the many presents given to the brides.

The brides and grooms each got 100,000 Naira as a dowry, with the grooms receiving an extra 100,000 Naira. The brides also got 50,000 Naira to use as seed money for their new ventures. Sponsoring the weddings brought great joy to Hon. Abdul Malik Zubairu, and he reaffirmed his dedication to helping families impacted by banditry. He made good on one of his pledges on Saturday by paying for the weddings of 105 women to men who had expressed interest in them.

The state's banditry was the cause of death for the majority of the brides' parents. Hon. Kawu Sumaila, who presided over the event, lauded the lawmaker for his caring act and asked the audience to remember him and pray for his successful representation. Ibadat (faith) includes marriage, which Hon. Kawu Sumaila emphasised, therefore the newlyweds should be patient with one another. Sumaila gave each couple 20,000 naira as a token of her support for the event. The public's reaction to the occurrence has been varied, and many have taken to social media to voice their opinions.
