During the recent Anti-Finance Bill protests in Nairobi, a young man named Rex Kanyike Masai tragically lost his life, allegedly due to police gunfire. The shooting happened around 7 pm along Moi Avenue on Thursday, June 20th.

In response, the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has started investigating the incident and, under the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), has 21 days to file a case.

To help Kenyans know how to file complaints about police misconduct, IPOA has shared some useful information. On Saturday, June 22nd, they posted a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on their official X handle, including instructions on how to file a complaint.

Here are the six ways you can file a complaint against rogue police officers according to IPOA:

1. Visit IPOA Offices: You can go to their respective offices in person.

2. Telephone Call: You can make a call to IPOA to lodge your complaint.

3. IPOA Website: You can file a complaint through the IPOA website.

4. Letter: You can send a letter to IPOA detailing your complaint.

5. Email: You can email IPOA with your complaint.

6. Toll-Free Number: You can use the toll-free number 1559 to lodge your complaint.
