Ex -PDP Senatorial Candidate Ogbee Defects To APC

A former Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Ebonyi Central Zone, Hon. Lazarus Ogbee, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi State.

His defection alongside his over 3,000 loyalists on Monday, marked the end of the leading opposition PDP in Ezza South Local Government Area.

This comes two weeks after the former senator who represented Ebonyi Central, Obinna Ogba, and House of Representatives aspirant, Obinna Nwachukwu, joined the ruling APC in the lshielu Local Government Area of the state.

Wike Woos Indian Businessmen

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike has assured Indians desirous of doing business in the nation’s capital of 100 per cent corporation.

The FCT minister expressed the desire for an expanded trade partnership between India and Nigeria to encourage more Indian businessmen to invest in the FCT.

Wike made this known when he received the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Shri Balasubramanian, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja on Tuesday.


Rivers Reps Member Declares Support For Fubara

A member of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, Boniface Emerengwa, has declared support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, denouncing his long-standing political alliance with former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Emerengwa who represents Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency made the declaration during a visit to Governor Fubara in Port Harcourt on Monday evening.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the federal lawmaker condemned the struggle by some politicians to be recognised as leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the political leaders of the state instead of the governor even when the party and the nation’s constitution explicitly bestowed such roles on elected governors.


Zulum Releases N1bn For Training Of Teachers In Borno

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno has released ₦1 billion to train teachers across the 27 local government areas of the state.

During the inauguration of the newly appointed 27 educational secretaries for the local government education authorities in the state on Tuesday, Zulum said the training would include 1,000 teachers identified to have ‘O’ level certificates, and those without certificates but have the requisite experiences.

The secretaries were selected following the 2019 review of the state government’s compulsory education law for 2005. The law allows the political appointment of education secretaries with the status and privileges of a permanent secretary.
