President William Samoei Ruto on Thursday chaired a cabinet meeting in State House where they discussed various issues affecting the country including the recent anti-government protests that rocked different parts of the country including Nairobi county.
During the cabinet meeting, the head of state and his team assessed the impact of the anti-government protests to the Kenyan economy as well as the way forward after the 2024 proposed Finance bill was vehemently rejected by Kenyans.
The head of state also declared that he will hold a conversation with young Kenyans on social media platform X. He said he will address all the issues that will be raised by Kenyans. He invited the cabinet to join him in meeting with the youths.
"The Cabinet is scheduled to join His Excellency the President tomorrow Friday, 5th July 2024 as the head of state and government hosts his inaugural X space conversation with the youths of Kenya. All Kenyans are welcomed to contribute to this dialogue” reads part of the statement.
This comes after youths declined to nominate their representatives to join a multi sectorial committee that was formed to address the issues affecting the country. The youths maintained that they are leaderless, tribeless as well as fearless. The head of state said that he is ready to address all the issues that they will raise.
President William Samoei Ruto further said that high will abolish all the illegal offices such as the office of first lady, second lady, CAS, as well as deal with corruption cases that have rocked his administration. He also vowed that it will not be business as usual.
