According to the report from the PM News, The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Sikirullai Ogundele, emphasized the importance of maintaining the party as a fair and just political entity open to all members. In a meeting held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogundele addressed concerns about internal instability caused by individuals he described as "moneybags" who allegedly wielded undue influence over the party through financial means.

Ogundele stressed that the PDP should not be treated as the exclusive domain of any individual, asserting, "PDP is not anybody’s business, every member of the party has the right to join the party, everyone has the right to aspire for any position." He highlighted the need for equal opportunities and a leveled playing field for all party members, regardless of financial status.

He further called for the liberation of the party from the control of those who have monopolized its structure, stating that reclaiming the party from these influences is crucial for success in the 2027 elections. "PDP in Ogun State must not be in the pocket of any individual," he emphasized, urging unity and independence within the party ranks.

Deputy governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 election, Adekunle Akinlade, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the necessity of repositioning the PDP to secure victory in 2027. He stressed the importance of unity, discipline, and character among party leaders to overcome past challenges and present a strong, cohesive front for future endeavors.
