Six men land in police net after robbing tricycle passengers of their phones

Six men have been arrested by men of the Kano State Police Command after robbing tricycle passengers of their phones in the metropolis, it was gathered on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

The Public Relations Officer of the state police command, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who announced the arrest on his Facebook wall, said the phone thieves were arrested following complaints from residents about their nefarious activities.

He gave their names as Nasiru Garba, aged 27 years; Adamu Haruna, aged 27 years; Bashir Isah, aged 29 years; Mustapha Ahmed, aged 23 years; Sadiq Muhammad, aged 24 years and Sadiq Shehu, aged 19 years.

According to the Police PRO, they were arrested by a team of surveillance patrol attached to the Special Intervention Squad of the command while acting on information from residents of Kano metropolis.

He wrote: "The suspects confessed to have used tricycles to carry their targets and snatch their mobile phones. Their operational tricycles and stolen phones were recovered from them."

They were said to have given more useful information to the police operatives and are expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.

The state police command has always grappled with the activities of miscreants and hoodlums who used tricycles to lure passengers and dispossess them of their valuables while some of them had been arrested and charged to court over the issue.
