According to Punch, Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos has dismissed the case against Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cuban Chief Priest, who was accused of tampering with Naira notes at a social event in the Eko Hotel, Lagos, on April 17, 2024. Okechukwu pleaded not guilty and was granted bail.

During subsequent court hearings, Okechukwu's defense team informed the court of ongoing settlement discussions. "We withdrew our preliminary objection and awaited further instructions," said Okechukwu's lawyer. The case was then adjourned for a settlement report.

On June 25, 2024, both sides presented terms of settlement. Okechukwu agreed to promote awareness against Naira abuse and make a specified payment to the Federation's revenue fund.

In response, Justice Ogundare decided to dismiss the charges against Okechukwu, saying, "Based on the agreement between the prosecution and defense under the EFCC Act, this case is hereby struck out." The terms also required Okechukwu to actively participate in public campaigns against naira abuse.
