Senator Shehu Sani recounted his experience of being imprisoned alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo during military rule.

According to a video (2:30) shared by TVC, Sani stated that he was arrested in Kaduna and taken to the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters, where he and General Shehu Yar'Adua encountered Obasanjo.

They were subsequently transferred to Kirikiri maximum prison. Upon arrival, Sani mentioned that he and Obasanjo received blankets and food before being allocated cells.

Sani also noted an incident where some inmates recognized Obasanjo, leading to them hurling insults at him.

Sani, as a human rights activist, was well-known among the inmates and utilized his influence to pacify the situation.

In his words, he said, "When armed robbers saw Obasanjo there (in prison), they started shouting and insulting. And naturally, for those of us who were human rights activists, we were popular with inmates, and I had to talk to the inmates to calm down."
