Real Madrid's pursuit of Girona left-back Miguel Gutierrez faces potential competition from Manchester United, according to a report from Spain.
According to 90min, Gutierrez garnered attention from top European clubs following an impressive 2023/24 season with Girona, where he contributed two goals and nine assists in 40 appearances.
His value could further rise with notable performances expected for Spain's Olympic team this summer.
Reported by Diario AS, both Real Madrid and Manchester United are keen on Gutierrez, who graduated from Madrid's youth system. Madrid has a buy-back option set at €8 million, significantly less than the €35 million release clause other clubs, including United, would need to meet. Gutierrez is under contract with Girona until 2027.
For United, acquiring Gutierrez could address their left-back needs, given Luke Shaw's recurring injuries and Tyrell Malacia's lack of playing time during the 2023/24 season.
However, the report notes that Gutierrez prioritizes playing in the Champions League next season, a competition United cannot offer. Therefore, his choices seem to boil down to moving to Madrid or staying with Girona.
