Shettima, Akpabio, Abbas Urge Firms to Boost Corporate Social Responsibility Efforts

According to Vanguard, On Friday, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas urged companies operating in Nigeria to adhere to the nation's laws on corporate social responsibility.


They called for all businesses in the country to follow the example set by the Chinese construction firm CCECC, which has demonstrated significant commitment to corporate social responsibility.


This call to action followed the successful graduation of over 190 Nigerian students who completed their studies in railway and engineering fields at Chinese universities, funded by CCECC Nigeria Ltd.


During the welcoming ceremony for the Nigerian graduates in Abuja, the leaders praised CCECC for its substantial contributions to the country's development, including investments in infrastructure and educational initiatives.


Vice President Shettima, represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Sen. Ibrahim Hasan, expressed gratitude for CCECC’s efforts in addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure challenges and providing educational opportunities. Shettima emphasized that CCECC’s achievements in training Nigerian engineers should serve as a model for other companies to emulate in their corporate social responsibility efforts.
