In an interview with Arise News, Jonathan Lokpobiri, President of the Ijaw Youth Council, called on the government to take immediate action and complete the long-delayed East-West Road project.

Lokpobiri emphasized the critical importance of the road to the people of the Niger Delta region, likening it to the essential need for breath. He expressed frustration with continued excuses for the project's failure, stressing that the region's development and livelihoods depend on the road's completion.

The Ijaw Youth Council President urged the government to address internal issues hindering the project's progress and deploy resources effectively. He emphasized that the people of the region will no longer accept excuses for failure, demanding tangible results.

In his words;

"As a Niger Deltan, if leaders continue to give excuses as to why to why failure is sustained, It's unacceptable. Our appeal is fix the Road and then you fix your internal issues as to why resources deployed are not being used effectively. That Road, just as human life depends on breath, that's how important the people of that region value that Road. So you can't extinguish a breath from the people and expect that people continue to listen to excuses you give for failure, it's unacceptable"
