Was Stephen Mokogi released on bail?

Stephen Mokogi Nyarenchi and Geoffrey Njau Wangui were arraigned before Milimani Law Courts Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi.

They were charged with unlawful entry into the parliamentary compound on June 28, 2024, after climbing over the fence along Parliament Road.

Nyarechi was also charged with stealing mace from the parliament, but he denied all the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh 2,000.

"Other suspects, namely Stephen Mokogi Nyarenchi and Geoffrey Njau Wangui, were also charged for unlawful entry into parliament precincts on June 29, 2024, by climbing over the fence along Parliament Road," DCI said.

Why did DCI release CCTV footage of protesters?

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) released photos of Kenyans who looted shops during the anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests.

In a statement on Monday, July 1, DCI said some Kenyans with criminal minds took advantage of the situation and devised schemes to cause harm and economically frustrate fellow Kenyans.

DCI said it had retrieved numerous CCTV footage that captured identifiable persons stealing from shops around Nairobi CBD.
