If one person is riding a car that costs N200m, you know that can build two or three schools-Hagher

Renowned scholar and diplomat Professor Iyorwuese Hagher has reportedly called for leadership changes to make Nigerian government more accessible to its constituents, as reported in the Vanguard.

His speech emphasised the importance of leaders who are patriotic and honest, like the late Sardauna of Sokoto, Tafawa Balewa, Nelson Mandela, Julius Nyerere, and Obafemi Awolowo. These individuals fought against colonialism and apartheid and advocated for social justice.

He pointed out, "We need leaders like those who fought colonialism, like the Sardauna of Sokoto, Tafawa Balewa, Nelson Mandela who fought and crushed the apartheid system in South Africa, Julius Nyerere, Awolowo, and others."

Additionally, he brought attention to the extreme inequality in the nation by contrasting the absurdity of wealth with the pervasive poverty and crumbling infrastructure.

He adamantly stated, "You cannot be riding exotic cars when you have no roads to ride them on. And if one person is riding a car that costs N200m, you know that can build two or three schools or community health centres, then you have no conscience." Among our leaders, you will find these.
