According to reports from Vanguard, former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Adolphus Wabara, has issued a stern warning against any attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to transform Nigeria into a one-party state.

Senator Wabara's statement comes in response to reports of mass resignations by key PDP members in the South East geopolitical zone, which he attributed to alleged machinations by the APC.

The reported resignation of prominent PDP figures, including former Governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has sparked concerns within the party regarding its stability and unity.

Amidst these resignations, which included key officials at both national and state levels, Senator Wabara emphasized the need for the PDP to remain vigilant and united in the face of external pressures.

Accusing the APC of employing divisive tactics to weaken the PDP, Senator Wabara asserted the determination of the PDP BoT to intervene decisively to prevent further defections.

He underscored the BoT's role as the conscience of the party, committed to preserving the integrity and vibrancy of the PDP.

“The BoT will never allow the APC to use some characters in the PDP to turn this beautiful and sweet Nation (Nigeria) into a one party state," Senator Wabara affirmed.

Highlighting the depth of experience and integrity within the PDP BoT, Senator Wabara expressed confidence in the ability of the party's leadership to navigate internal challenges and forge a path forward.

He reassured party members that the PDP remained resilient and capable of resolving any grievances through dialogue and consensus-building.
