The Lagos State Government has announced plans to close and divert traffic at the Akiogun/Market Road Junction inward Admiralty Circle, Lekki area, from July 15 to July 25, 2024. The closure is to facilitate the ongoing construction of Oniru Road.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, motorists are advised to use alternative routes: Maruwa Junction to access Remi Olowude and link T.F Kuboye Street to reach Akiogun/Market Street, or utilize T.F Kuboye Street to link Remi Olowude Street to connect Lekki/Epe Corridor.
According to Vanguard News, State Traffic management personnel have been deployed to manage flow and reduce inconveniences. The diversion plan is subject to weather conditions, and incessant rainfall may extend the duration of the diversion.
Motorists are urged to be patient and follow the alternative routes to minimize disruptions. The closure is part of the traffic management plans for the rehabilitation works on the asphalt pavement of the road sections by the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.
