Borno State senator Ali Ndume recently addressed the Senate regarding the coordinated suicide bombings in Gwoza, as reported by The Sun. Ndume praised the bravery of the Joint Task Force (JTF) for their efforts during the attacks.

He highlighted the valor of the JTF in confronting the attackers and preventing further devastation. Ndume recounted an instance where the JTF stopped the fourth suicide bomber just before she could detonate her explosives.

Tragically, during the confrontation, a soldier from southern Nigeria lost his life. Despite the JTF's efforts, the bomber managed to set off her explosives, causing additional damage. Ndume mentioned that the military successfully apprehended a fifth suicide bomber before she could complete her mission.

During interrogation, the arrested bomber confessed her willingness to die, believing it would grant her entry into heaven. This statement, Ndume argued, underscores the severe level of brainwashing and radicalization these individuals undergo.

Ndume stated, "The military arrested the fifth suicide bomber as she was about to detonate the explosive. She was taken into custody and interrogated by the military."

He expressed his concern over the indoctrination of these individuals, citing the bomber's desire to die for the promise of heaven. Ndume said, "Unfortunately, these people have been indoctrinated. The arrested suicide bomber said she wants to die and go to heaven. That’s how bad it has become."

Ndume's speech in the Senate emphasized the ongoing threat posed by radicalized individuals and the commendable efforts of the JTF in combating these attacks. He called attention to the urgent need to address the root causes of such radicalization to prevent future incidents.
