The Federal Government has temporarily stopped charging duties, tariffs, and taxes on some essential food items imported by land and sea.

According to a report by Punch, this announcement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, at a press conference held at the National Press Centre in Abuja on Monday.

Kyari detailed that the food items benefiting from this new policy are maize, wheat, husked brown rice, and cowpeas. These items will be imported into the country without any duties for the next 150 days.

This measure is a part of the Presidential Accelerated Stabilization and Advancement Plan, designed to ensure food security and support economic stability in Nigeria.

The government has been actively working to address the crisis of food inflation, which has led to a significant rise in food prices across the nation.

Kyari assured the public that the government is committed to ensuring food security and making sure that no Nigerian goes hungry.
