Chibuike Ikenga, the Publicity Secretary of the Rivers APC Caretaker Committee, has spoken about the Rivers State House of Assembly, which is currently divided into two factions.

In a report recently shared by Punch, Ikenga stated that the Court of Appeal issued a judgment on the matter but Governor Fubara immediately dismissed it. He said Fubara publicly stated that he only recognizes Oko-Jumbo-led House of Assembly members as the legitimate lawmakers in the state.

Ikenga also said Governor Fubara declared that the 27 lawmakers who had announced their defection to APC have lost their seats despite the Court of Appeal's ruling. He also expressed concerns that Governor Fubara might ignore the Supreme Court's final judgment regarding local government autonomy.

In Ikenga's words: "It is important to note that the Court of Appeal gave a judgment and that same day, governor Fubara came on air to say that he does not recognise any other person than his selected Oko-Jumbo and a committee of friends as the leadership of the House of Assembly, and he said the (27) House of Assembly members are gone irrespective of the position of the Court of Appeal’s judgment"
