Uyo Capital City Development Authority UCCDA resumes demolition exercise in Uyo.

In a decisive move to fastrack city beautification, and in continuation of its statutory responsibility to make the capital city liveable for visitors alike, Rt. Hon. Anietie Eka, Chairman of the Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA), issued a strict ultimatum to operators and owners of unapproved structures and shanties along major corridors of Uyo Capital City ordering them to remove before June 1,2024.



On June 1, 2024 by the Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development, (UCCDA), during the groundbreaking ceremony of the UCCDA-ARISE Cafeteria & Storage facility, located at the headquarters building that all illegal and unapproved structures within the major roads of Uyo should be demolished, (akwaibomstate.gov.ng)



The Chairman highlighted that, the ultimatum is part of a broader strategy to improve the living conditions in residents, maintain sanity guaranty security of lives and properties as well as attract more investments into the capital city in line with the ARISE AGENDA of the Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.

At the expiration the given timeframe, they have made true to their words by demolishing the affected and earlier mentioned roads.



The places billed to be demolished are;

Oron road to Udom Emmanuel Boulevard

Nwaniba to Ring road 3

Aka road to Good Jonathan/Ring road 3

Abak Road to Ekom Iman Flyover

Ikot Ekpene to Itam Junction.

The exercise has started and demolition has taken place between Aka Road and Goodluck Jonathan Boulevard/ Ring road 3.

Second phase of the demolition as at June 26, 2024, Ikot Ekpene road to Itam Junction was being demolished.

It is expected that in coming days, others major roads will follow as earlier advised by UCCDA.
