Senator Gabriel Suswam, the ex-Governor of Benue State, has conveyed his assurance regarding his suitability to assume the role of Chairman within the PDP. He emphasized his extensive background in both the party and the Nigerian political landscape as the foundation for his confidence.

Suswam underscores his unique qualifications within the party, positioning himself as a repository of PDP's history and operational intricacies. Moreover, he highlights his skill in engaging with a diverse array of key figures and stakeholders within the party. He stresses the importance for the party to have a unifying leader capable of effectively interacting with individuals at all levels, fostering mutual understanding, and addressing internal conflicts head-on.

He said in an interview with Arise TV, ''Based on credentials, I believe that I'm eminently qualified to be the Chairman of the PDP. I started with PDP at inception in 1998, I won the election in 1999 to the House of Representatives. And I spent 8 years in the House of Representatives. From the House of Representatives, I became the governor of my state, Benue State and I spent 8 years as the governor of that state participating fully in all party activities.

After that, I became a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under PDP. So there are very few people who have the kind of credentials that I have in PDP."
