Wike Threatens to Unseat Lawmaker in 2027

Minister Nyesom Wike of the Federal Capital Territory threatened to oppose an unnamed lawmaker in the 2027 elections for criticizing his administration's achievements. He made the statement during the inauguration of the Mabushi Bus Terminal Phase I in Abuja, citing disparaging remarks about FCT's education and healthcare sectors. Wike challenged the legislator to match his efforts and warned of electoral consequences if criticism persisted.

Twins Arraigned Over Alleged Phone Theft

Twins Ugonna and Ogonna Nwaobodo were arraigned on Monday in an Amawbia Chief Magistrates’ Court in Awka, Anambra State, for allegedly stealing a N123,000 cell phone. They were charged with conspiracy and theft, having allegedly stolen a Redmi phone and sold it. The phone was later recovered. The twins pleaded not guilty, were granted bail, and their case was adjourned to August 20.

State House clerical staff receive Shettima’s N1m productivity award

The State House honored 38 staff members for their dedication. Awards, including a N1 million prize, were presented by Permanent Secretary Olufunso Adebiyi. The top award went to Clerical Officer Innocent Ekhobhiye. Other notable awardees included Rosemary Ezeugoh and Waheed Shobande. Adebiyi emphasized continuous staff training and the importance of health. Additionally, eight new Permanent Secretaries were announced, including three from the State House Clinic.

No explosion at Zungeru power plant, says management

Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, managing the Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Plant in Niger State, denied reports of an explosion at the plant on July 1, 2024. They called the news false and irresponsible. The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, also confirmed that no explosion occurred and the plant continues to function properly.
