A member of the Rivers State Elders, has spoken about the political dispute between Governor Sim Fubara, Nyesom Wike, and a few members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, headed by Martins Amaewhule, who are purportedly loyal to Wike.
From his point of view, Briggs has discussed the dispute. Channels TV recently posted a video to YouTube in which Briggs expressed her displeasure with these members of parliament, whom she claimed were trying to block Governor Fubara's agenda. She stressed that their differences with Fubara stem from private problems rather than serious concerns for the state.
It has been reported by Briggs that Justice Mary Odili (Retd) and former Governor Peter Odili have sent their gratitude to Governor Fubara and the people of Rivers State for their support. The speaker warned that these lawmakers' actions might affect Rivers in significant ways and urged them to think again before taking a stand. According to Briggs: "Peter Odili and his wife Justice Mary have stood up and they are on Fubara's side and on the side of the people" .
