opera.com 2024/5/18

Ola Olukoyede, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has given his take on the money laundering allegations against the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

The EFCC has disclosed its intention to arraign the former governor over allegations of money laundering, misappropriation of funds, and breach of trust.

However, in a video posted by TVC News, Olukoyede stated that the ex-governor wouldn't have been declared wanted if he had not evaded a peaceful arrest.

Furthermore, the EFCC boss swore to bring Yahaya Bello to book and ensure that justice is duely served, even if it will cost him his job.

According to the video, "I don't mind the outcome of this case, but the right thing must be done. I won't have any moral right to accuse anyone of corruption in Nigeria; I will resign.".
