The Secretary Of Warri-Urhobo National Congress, Mr. Victor Okumagba has said the ownership of Warri has long been clarified for people to see. According to him, the Ijaws and the Urhobos are the people who can claim ownership of the Warri Township because it has been clarified that is belongs to them. He stated clearly that it is horrendous to say the Itsekiris are the owners of Warri because it is quite far from the truth.
Mr. Victor Okumagba was baffled by how the itsekiris are claiming ownership of Warri when the supreme court clearly ruled that they didn't get to the Warri Township. He also asserted that there is no ancestral root of any itsekiris man to the Warri Township because where they come from is quite different from the Warri Township.
In a recent interview with Arise News Television today, he said: "If you are saying that Warri belongs to you and the supreme court has ruled that you did not get to Warri. The Itsekiris did not get to the Warri Township and we are getting something very wrong here. There is distinction between Warri South Local Government Area and Warri Township like as you have Warri North Local Government Area and Cocoa Township. You can not expect somebody from ogheye in Warri North Local Government Area to come and claim indigeneship of Cocoa. Because of the nature of Warri Town everybody wants to claim Warri. There is no ancestral root of any itsekiris man to Warri Township"
