At the July 2024 Leadership Empowerment Summit held at Living Faith Church, Canaanland, Bishop David Oyedepo shared a remarkable testimony that highlighted the spiritual dynamics of giving and receiving within the church.

In his address titled "What Are Prophecies," Bishop Oyedepo recounted an unforgettable encounter with Archbishop Benson Idahosa, a revered spiritual mentor who returned the seed God prompted him to sow to him.

"I was prompted to sow a seed to him as instructed by the Lord," Bishop Oyedepo began. "I placed it in his hand, and he said, ‘Bring out your hand.’ He then placed the seed back in my hand without even checking what it was. He didn't look at the amount or its significance in material terms."

This gesture, Bishop Oyedepo explained, was not about the money but about the divine exchange that was to take place. "That’s when he proclaimed the blessings: ‘From today, these hands will never know dryness.’ And indeed, I’ve never gone hunting for dollars in my life. We have currencies we don’t even know where they came from. ‘These hands will never know dryness.’"

Bishop Oyedepo emphasized that the act of returning the seed was a profound demonstration of faith and a declaration of God's provision. The Archbishop’s response showcased the true role of prophets and spiritual leaders. "Prophets don’t need your offering, you need their help. They are helpers of our destinies," he noted.

He continued to highlight the significance of prophetic declarations and how they transcend material offerings. "Prophets are not offering collectors. They are not grabbers. I was in one of my sons' ministry meetings yesterday, and I didn’t check one thing that anybody gave me. I took my offering before I went there. They are not after material gain; they are after fulfilling God’s mission."
