‘Wike G5 Are Enemies Holding Territory In PDP, PDP May End Up Without Candidate In 2027’-Shehu Sani

The Sun recently interviewed Senator Shehu Sani, a public commentator and human rights crusader, who offered his thoughts on the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) future and chances in the 2027 presidential election. The internal strife within the opposition party, brought to light by Sani's remarks, is a major obstacle to the party's unity and its prospects in the approaching election.

When asked if Atiku Abubakar and the PDP will work together to unseat the current government in 2027, Sani said they would try, but she was skeptical they would succeed. The party is "on its clutches," he said, implying that internal strife has weakened it.

Sani underlined that the PDP's situation is definitely terrible when the journalist paused and asked if the party was not in a "coma" instead. He noted that the G5 and other party groups still control substantial power and territory, making party unification unlikely.

According to Sani, the PDP's internal conflicts might make it hard for the party to stand unified in the 2027 election. He cautioned that the party might not field a presidential candidate in 2020 if its members do not work together to resolve internal disputes.

"Based on the fact that the main party is holding a section of the territory and the G5 are still holding a section," he said. It remains to be seen how that party can come together tomorrow, but for now, it appears like they are insurgents within the party, controlling territory. Also, the PDP might not have a candidate for the 2027 general election if certain precautions are not taken.
