Several passengers have been seriously injured after the bus they were traveling in crashed near Kaseve market along Machakos-Kitui Road.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver of the bus lost control before the vehicle rolled along the road.
In response to the tragic incident, a swift rescue operation was initiated to help those trapped inside the wreckage. Police officers responded quickly and controlled the bulging crowd as residents rushed to witness the accident.
In the photos captured at the accident scene, the bus could be seen leaning on one of its sides as rescuers attempted to pull occupants from the vehicle.
While confirming the incident, area police boss stated that the afternoon incident left several nursing critical injuries. 41 people have been rushed to Machakos Level 5 hospital for urgent treatment.
Police are working to assess and address the situation. Investigations to establish the root cause of the bus accident have been launched.
