Chidi Lloyd, the Chairman of Emuoha Local Government in Rivers State, bemoaned the inability to reach Governor Sir Sim Fubara, who seems to regard anyone linked with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as adversaries. He voiced concerns over the strained relationships within the local government framework, citing widespread distrust. Lloyd noted that this hostility has resulted in the exclusion of local leaders from critical decision-making processes, including state-level promotions.

In an interview with Channels TV, Lloyd stated, "There's a pervasive atmosphere of mutual distrust within the system. Local government heads and treasurers are given directives without involving democratically elected local government chairmen." He highlighted the lack of communication with Governor Fubara due to perceived affiliations.

Governor Fubara, on the other hand, emphasized having supporters of integrity and character amidst his standoff with Nyesom Wike. He cited Dr. Peter Odili's endorsement as causing discomfort among his critics. Fubara has been engaged in a power struggle with Wike since assuming office in May 2023. Recently, Wike criticized PDP leaders in Rivers for backing Fubara, accusing them of lacking integrity.
