Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially sworn in Barrister Emmanuel Frank-Fubara as a new commissioner.

This followed his screening and confirmation by the assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo earlier on Monday.

According to a report by Channels Television, the swearing-in ceremony took place at around 5 pm in the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Port Harcourt.

During his speech after the oath-taking, Governor Fubara emphasized his recognition of the Oko-Jumbo-led assembly as the legitimate legislative body.

He expressed disappointment with the police, accusing them of not thoroughly investigating the recent bomb explosion in Port Harcourt.

He suggested that the lack of action was due to the suspects not being his supporters.

Governor Fubara also recalled instances where his supporters were wrongly accused and charged with terrorism.

Despite these challenges, he stated that he would continue to rely on divine grace and protection to lead the state.

Following the ceremony, he immediately appointed the new commissioner to the Ministry of Finance.
