In an exclusive interview on a podcast with Seun Okinbaloye, Kenneth Okonkwo, a renowned Nigerian actor, lawyer, and politician, stated that he amassed a fortune through his work in Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry.
Kenneth Okonkwo, who is well-known for his roles in various Nollywood productions and outspoken nature, asserted that he garnered significant wealth and acclaim from his contributions to the Nollywood industry.
When asked if Nollywood was as profitable in his time as is it right now, Kenneth Okonkwo responded
"We were the originators of the profiteering nature of Nollywood". "I made a fortune as a Nollywood actor and it was just 2020 that I decided to start winding up", he added.
Kenneth Okonkwo, when asked by Seun Okinbaloye if he considers himself a retired actor responded by saying that there is no retirement age from acting but from the public eye, he has made a decision that it should decrease so that his fight for a new Nigeria will increase.
"You don't retire from acting, but maybe from the public's exhibition of acting, I made a decision that it should decrease so that my fight for a Nigeria can increase".
He also claimed that he had several opportunities to return to Nollywood but turned them down, adding that there was no time anymore. However, he added that the only thing that would make him take back a role in Nollywood now is if Nigeria becomes better than America.
