South-South leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, of trying to control both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
In a statement he released, the former Federal Commissioner for Information said that it is rumoured that Wike recently removed the PDP chairman in Rivers State and recommended him for a federal government appointment. He said that with the control Wike now has on both the PDP and APC in Rivers State, he has used his influence to appoint some APC members as caretaker committee members of the party in Rivers State.
According to the report by Vanguard, Chief Clark accused Wike of engaging in anti-party activities, and questioned if Wike is only waiting for the right time to destroy the PDP completely and become a full-time member of the APC.
He said, "Is Nyesom Wike only waiting for the appropriate time to destroy the PDP and become a full fledge member of the APC? It is alleged that it is the same Barr. Wike who sponsored the 27 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to defect from the PDP to the APC, using the National Secretary of the party, who was in court as the reason and that PDP has split."
Clark said that the ambition of Wike and Atiku Abubakar to become president of Nigeria will kill the PDP. He claimed that the two politicians are not using their money on the party because of their love for the party, but they are doing so to establish their leadership in the party.
