Rivers Crisis: I'll not say Wike is innocent or guilty, I'll not say Fubara's allegation is false or untrue -Shittu
In an interview with Channels Television, renowned lawyer Wahab Shittu, urged the public to keep an open mind regarding the political feud between former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his successor, Siminalayi Fubara. Shittu refrained from making pronouncements on Wike's guilt or innocence, as well as the validity of Fubara's allegations, emphasizing the need for thorough investigations to uncover the truth.
Shittu acknowledged that both camps have made allegations, but cautioned against confusing political maneuvering with criminality. He stressed that until the allegations are properly investigated, it is wise to assume that politicians are engaging in political gamesmanship, rather than jumping to conclusions.
The senior advocate's call for caution comes as the political crisis in Rivers State deepens, with the state government announcing plans to probe Wike's administration.
In His Words;
"It is safe for everybody to keep an open mind. I'll not say Former Governor Wike is innocent and I'll not say Former Governor, Wike is guilty. I'll not say Governor Fubara's allegations amount to falsehood, I'll also not say the allegations are untrue. What I'll say is that until these allegations are properly Investigated, I think it's convenient for everybody to just assume that politicians are playing their games, they're making wild allegations here and there. Some of these allegations have been made by Wike's camp, some of these allegations have been made by Fubara's camp. What I can say is that the gladiators are busy playing politics here and there but politics is quite different from criminality"
