Amnesty International has announced that Denzel Omondi, a protestor who went missing during the initial anti-Finance Bill protests, has been found dead.

Houghton reported that Omondi’s family confirmed his death to Amnesty International following unsuccessful efforts to locate him. Kenyans on social media suggest that Omondi had participated in the June 25 Occupy Parliament protests, before his body was found in a quarry in Kabete.

Omondi was a Quantity Survey student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology. His death has been linked to his involvement in the protests, making him the latest victim among Kenyan demonstrators.

Amnesty International states that 41 people have died as a result of the protests, while government figures report 25 deaths. Houghton criticized the National Police Service for not cooperating with the Kenya National Human Rights Commission in investigating alleged instances of police abuse. He further accused the police of refusing to submit their weapons for ballistic testing.

Amnesty International continues to call on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority to identify and prosecute officers accused of using excessive force.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
